The University of Florida Police Department would like to share information regarding increased law enforcement activity around the Gainesville campus.

On Monday, Feb. 23, several University of Florida departments received emails threatening the safety of different locations of the campus.

UFPD promptly confirmed that no incident occurred and that the threats are consistent with a hoax. These hoax emails are consistent with a similar incident that took place on the evening of Friday, Feb. 20.

While law enforcement has confirmed that there is no threat to safety, UFPD encourages the campus community to remain vigilant and report anything that may seem suspicious to police by calling 352-392-1111.

In the event of a dangerous incident that poses an immediate threat to the health and safety of the campus community, an emergency notification would be issued through the UF Alert System.
