The Gainesville Police Department is currently investigating a burglary that was reported to have occurred Friday night sometime between 9:15pm and 9:30pm at 710 W Depot Ave, in the Royal Village apartment complex.

The report was provided to UFPD by a resident who explained that a black male, in his 20’s, with short hair, thin build, medium height, wearing a white tank top, and light colored pants entered her apartment without invitation or reason for being there. The residents who were in the apartment at the time did not recognize the male and had never seen him before.

Once inside the residence, the male told one of the residents that he was there looking for someone by the name of “EJ.” There was no one by that name in the apartment and the male abruptly left without further incident. It was reported that a theft occurred. It was confirmed that the male did not work for the complex’s maintenance staff.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may know the suspects identity is asked to call the University of Florida Police Department at 352-392-1111.
