Timely Warning

The University of Florida Police Department has located and identified a vehicle matching the description of the blue (dark teal) van near Fraternity Row reported as suspicious by an anonymous individual on Sunday. The operator of the vehicle is employed in the area and was driving by at the same time the individual reported a vehicle matching that description. Based on this information, UFPD does not believe there is an ongoing threat.

However, UFPD wants to remind everyone of these safety considerations:

Report suspicious activities or individuals immediately by dialing 9-1-1

Always be alert and aware of your surroundings. This is particularly true if you are wearing headphones and may not be able to hear someone near or behind you.

If someone bothers you, don’t be embarrassed to attract attention to yourself. Yell!

Avoid walking alone if at all possible.

If someone stops and asks for directions, avoid getting close to the individual.
